Here's my entry for Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search 2014! The theme this year was "Little Terrariums." I don't know about you, but I would love to live in a giant mushroom!
I have HUGE news this morning - I've been featured on the Tigerprinters Studio blog in their Designer Spotlight section! I'm absolutely over the moon with my first blog feature!
I just signed up for Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search! This is such an amazing opportunity and I'm so excited to see how far my designs will take me in the competition. I missed the deadline last year by a week and I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. The winner receives a two year contract with Lilla Rogers Studio, one of the top illustration agencies in the world, and a handful of other amazing licensing deals! It really doesn't get much better than that!
I work full time for a small branding and package design studio, so I don't get a chance to work on my patterns until the evenings. The last thing I want to do after sitting in front of a computer all day is to come home and (you guessed it!) sit in front of a computer again.
That's where Inkpad comes in. Inkpad is a lot like Illustrator and it's completely changing the way I work on patterns! You can create fully editable vector images directly on your iPad. No more piles of sketches building up in the corner of my room waiting to be scanned! Inkpad is an absolutely lifesaver!
I just signed up for the Intermediate and Advanced tracks in the Make It In Design Summer School! I learned so much from the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design e-course so, naturally, I was thrilled to find out about this FREE summer school Make It In Design is offering! The first creative brief will be sent out on July 28th so sign up now if you're looking for some creative inspiration!
Here are two new illustrations that I'm so excited to share with you all! These will be part of an A-Z series once I get around to illustrating the rest of the alphabet..haha!
I graduated from the final module of the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design e-course today! The last 5 weeks went by so fast! Packed with invaluable information about trade shows and the business side of surface pattern design, I finally feel confident enough to take the next steps in my creative journey! From going back to the basics of sketching and effective color palettes in Module 1, to getting down to the heart of running your own business in Module 3, this e-course really pushed me creatively and inspired me on a daily basis!
Armed with all of this new information, I'm so excited to see where the next few years will take me!
New products available in my Society6 shop featuring my latest pattern design - A Pair of Pears!
Pantone has just announced the color of the year for 2014! What beautiful designs will you come up with using the lovely Radiant Orchid?
I've got a huge confession to make - I've been surrounded by purple my entire life so I'm no longer a huge fan of the color. Purple bedding, purple lampshades, purple backpacks, purple leggings (don't ask), and even a purple prom dress. I'm more of a mustard yellow girl nowadays ;) Nevertheless, I'm going to challenge myself to use more purple in my patterns in honor of Radiant Orchid!
